Legacy of Service: The Inspirational Story Behind the Name Innis.Fit
The name ‘Innis.Fit’ is more than just a brand for my fitness and wellness platform; it’s a heartfelt homage to two remarkable people who profoundly influenced my life – my grandparents, Mary Jane Innis and Edward McMahon. My grandmother, Mary Jane, was a pioneering force in local politics. She broke barriers and set an example of strong leadership as the first woman mayor of her city in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Her dedication to service and community was unwavering, inspiring me to also contribute positively to society.
My grandfather, Edward, served valiantly as a glider rider in World War II. After his service, he opened a small retail shop, and upon retirement, he devoted his time to making bikes for the children of their city. His generosity knew no bounds, donating hundreds, perhaps thousands, of bicycles, embodying the spirit of giving and community support.
Their lives were testaments to resilience, service, and making a lasting impact on those around them. By naming my site Innis.Fit, I choose to honor their memory and uphold their values. It’s a tribute to their legacy, a reminder of where I come from, and a guide for the impact I aspire to make through my work in fitness. Just as they supported their community, Innis.Fit aims to support individuals in their journey towards better health and a more adventurous life, echoing the dedication and spirit of Mary Jane Innis and Edward McMahon.
